Saskia Laroo
Stellar trumpeter from
the Netherlands who tours worldwide. We had the great honor of having
her in our midst (and on our stage) in summer '04 after the JazzFest when
she was accompanied by Warren Byrd and friends at Sze-Tok (by the way; she's
accompanied by Warren a lot... they're a cute couple and head-over-heels in
love with each other). She was also one of the kindest, humblest
performers (beside Warren) ever to grace our stage. Close your eyes
and listen; you'll think Miles is still with us -- she's that good!

Pete Levin
Our good
friend and keyboardist to the stars. His website is worth looking at
if only for the "Funny Stuff" section which makes us fall over in our chairs
laughing every time we visit.
Be sure to go to his
website and order his great new album, "Deacon Blues"

Diane Linscott
There are only a few
other jazz vocalists who can completely captivate an audience to the extent
that Diane Linscott does but none of them has a background that even
remotely resembles hers.
Maine is where she was
born, raised, graduated from the university, married, mothered,
grandmothered, and then launched several careers, including singing
professionally.
Since the early '90s,
Linscott has won juried competitions with her monotypes and other visual art
mediums; she has had one-woman shows of her sculpture in several prestigious
galleries; she has composed chamber music for the concert stage (and was
chosen Maine Composer of the Year); she has conceived, sculpted, cast in
sterling silver, and marketed her own line of jewelry; and she has made her
debut as a singer outside of the kitchen and shower.
The singing career
started to gel when her audition tape gained her admission for two
consecutive years to the Jazz in July workshop at UMASS, where Dr. Billy
Taylor is guest director. She formed her own trio, and in no time the
gigs multiplied.
Her latest album,
released in October of 2004, "You Must Believe in Spring" is available,
along with her other discography, at

Mystery Feet
Relix Magazine’s Mick Skidmore recognized
Mystery Feet as one of the "artists you should know about" in his On The
Verge feature, saying "the music should appeal to fusion fans and beyond,
especially if you enjoy the music of Steve Kimock ... these guys are
stunning players."
The Hartford Advocate’s Chris Harris called
Walk the Walk "a versatile, hip and extraordinarily complex album."
In perhaps the best review yet, Jazz Improv
Magazine’s Winthrop Bedford says "as any quality jazz release requires, the
solos throughout the album evidence experience, an understanding of
developed lines, interplay and sensitivity among each of the members of the
group."

Jim Porcella
Although you may hear traces of
other singers in Jim's performance, there is no mistaking this uniquely
individual vocalist. In person, as in his recordings, you will be impressed
by his warm, rich voice, his engaging style and sensitivity, his love of
singing, and that humorous twinkle in his soul.

Our good friend drummer Liviu Pop
has consistently produced some of Szechuan Tokyo's most successful jazz
shows to date. Whether it be in a hard funk-jazz vein, soul-jazz, or
something more mellow, Liviu never fails to bring an ensemble-group of
stellar performers who perform in an exciting, entertaining style.
