Jim Argiro is an accomplished pianist, composer and arranger of jazz and popular music. His career spans work with big bands, combos, radio, movies and television on both coasts. Jim had the distinction of being a protegé of the late Nelson Riddle. Today, Mr. Argiro is one of the area's hardest-working music industry luminaries. Whether it be playing with personalities like Paul Brown or being the accompanist of choice for visiting jazz stars; or working feverishly in his studio arranging scores for bands large and small, he lives, breathes and almost eats music (okay, he's a vegetarian). Mr. Argiro's latest project, The Argiro Quintet, consisting of piano, vibes, bass, guitar and drums, made its debut performance to a full house at Szechuan Tokyo on the Friday of the Hartford Jazz Festival (no small feat).
