EVENTS TO COME:
On Sunday, April 6th 2008 Paul Lewis, Szechuan Tokyo's Chief
Operating Officer and director of the Szechuan Tokyo Entertainment Group
was pleased to meet with the committee for the third annual Trinity
College International Hip-Hop Festival.
Mr. Lewis committed at that time to provide food for artists and
organizers during the event, as well as hosting the after-party at
Szechuan Tokyo free of charge (for artists and organizers).
This is one of the more significant commitments Szechuan Tokyo has
made to our customer community. We're delighted that, as does our
continuous donation of matching funds to Trinity's Asian American
Students Association, we can promote diversity in our community.
This year also saw Szechuan Tokyo make significant contributions of
goods and funds to events held by the Greek societies and also "Do-It
Day," and the Relay for Life.

RAFFLE TO SUPPORT WEST HARTFORD PUBLIC SCHOOLS' CHINESE LANGUAGE
PROGRAM TRIP TO CHINA
TV Personality BRAD DRAZEN was emcee of the Raffle to benefit the
Chinese Language Students in the West Hartford Public High Schools. This
Spring, they'll be taking a once-in-a-lifetime trip to China. Now, some
of the parents of the most motivated, excellent students don't have the
means to send them, so a group of concerned parents and sponsors got
together and we had a raffle and raised nearly the entire goal! Our
thanks to Brad, to Ross Hollander of Hartford Distributors, Inc. (The
Budweiser People) who donated money and beer for all ticket
purchasers.
Our thanks to Theresa Wright and Her Distinguished Gentlemen for
providing the evening's entertainment (free of charge, no less!)
This successful event typifies the kind of grassroots charity that
happens when neighbor helps neighbor; we're all for it 'cause every
single dollar raised went right to the kids who need it; no
administrative costs nor overhead.
Finally, our thanks to the raffle ticket purchasers and the wonderful
crowd that came out to support this worthy cause!
Remember, even though the events
are past, these charities are always in need of your help.
Occasionally, we hear, "well, they've
got plenty of sponsors... how come they need more money?" Did you know that many
"big-giving" funds only match the funds that their benefactor charities can
raise themselves? So simply because a charity is supported by, let's say,
the Ford Foundation, or the Doris Duke Charitable Trust, it doesn't mean that
they don't need money. These Foundations and Trusts merely match the funds
that the charities themselves are capable of raising.

2007 was the annual
DINNER WITH THE
ROYALS
Presented by the Imperial
Sovereign Court of All Connecticut (tm), a non-profit group that raises
thousands of dollars for AIDS research and AIDS hospice. We were proud to
host this fun-loving group (whom think life's just a drag, if you get our
drift).
Dinner with the Royals is yet
another fundraiser, in the wake of the immensely successful "Studio 54 Goes To
Chinatown" at Sze-Tok. We've been working with the Imperial Sovereign Court
since 2003!

The Artists Collective was founded in 1970 as an interdisciplinary arts and
cultural institution serving the Greater Hartford area. It is the only
multi-arts and cultural organization of its kind in Connecticut emphasizing the
cultural and artistic contributions of the African Diaspora.
Artists Collective programs expose students and the community at large to great
and too often overlooked artists of the past and present. The Collective
continues to offer the highest quality training in the performing arts-dance,
theatre, music and visual arts.

VOICE AND SING (LEVAS) Community Choirs. This remarkable group is
presenting a Gospel Festival and Fair on Saturday, September 11th in Bushnell
Park in Hartford.

LEVAS has a rich history; based in faith -- the
message remains the same but the music changes with the times and remains fresh
and new. We were overwhelmed with the diversity of the genres represented

Well, the party's over... but Nancy Shapiro, event
coordinator for CRT, told us it was the most memorable of their recent events
and that we'd certainly be doing more work for them. We had a ball.
This decidedly Democrat assembly dashed with delight into the Real Art Ways
cinema to witness Governor Rowland's resignation announcement -- much to the
embarassment of Sze-Tok C.O.O. Paul Lewis who was there (and also the only
Republican in the whole place). Why did a Republican choose to support a
charity that's Democrat through and through? He's a social liberal -- just
a fiscal Repub. (Good friend and CRT Board Member David Pudlin calls him a
"closet Democrat").
